For the second half of term 1, students have been learning basic skills in basketball. Particularly dribbling, passing and defending. The last two sessions consisted of a proper basketball game which the students were completely engaged in! It was incredible to see ALL of the students getting involved and trying their very best ! Well done 6B !
In the images above, students learnt how to dribble the ball using their fingertips. Here, we can see the students using the 'chicken wing' position! Keeping a tight hold of the ball, getting ready to pass !
And here, students were learning how to defend the ball, keeping it on one side of their hip.
AND ! Lastly, the students had the opportunity to test out their learnt skills in a basketball match, against each other. I was amazed at how much they had all picked up from the basketball sessions. 6B is now feeling more courageous and inspired to join a basketball team, because they now have some understanding of how to play it.
